How many hours of training do you need to be an HHA in New York?

What score do you need to pass the New York HHA exam?
New York does not run a state HHA exam. Each approved training program gives its own written test and skills check, and the NYSDOH guide for those programs sets the bar for the written test: a minimum score of 80% is required, and a retake must be a different version. How long does a New York HHA certification last?
There is no fixed renewal period. You remain certified as long as you work for a home health agency that NYSDOH certifies or licenses. If you go 24 consecutive months without working as a home health aide at such an agency, you have to pass a competency evaluation (or retrain) before you can work as an aide again. Can I transfer an out-of-state HHA certification to New York?
Not automatically. If you trained as an HHA or nurse aide in another state, New York lets you take a competency evaluation instead of the full program: a written exam plus a skills demonstration, given by an agency that runs an approved training program.
